Frequently Asked Questions

When you have a gum lift or gum contouring procedure, you will be given a sedative in the chair. It will numb your gums so you may not feel anything. However, you can expect some discomfort and tenderness around your gums after the treatment is completed.

While the treatment itself takes as little as 2-3 hours, complete healing may take weeks. Your gums and mouth will be sensitive at first, so it is recommended you eat soft foods for about a week after the procedure. Your dentist will provide post-surgery dietary instructions.
