Dentures

Dentures in Gordon

Dentures are custom-made, wearable prosthetic devices used to replace missing teeth and surrounding tissues. Gordon Dental offers various missing teeth replacements including complete and partial dentures.

Also known as false teeth, dentures are made of body-safe acrylic while the plate (the base of the dentures) is made from either acrylic resin or metal. They are designed to be comfortable to wear and match your natural teeth so that your smile and the day-to-day functionality of your mouth are restored.

The Process of Getting Dentures: What to Expect From Our Gordon Dentists

Getting dentures is a process that is usually completed over a series of visits. Our dentists aim to provide you with all the information you need about your options in a relaxing and comfortable environment.

During your first consultation, the dentist will undertake a full examination of your mouth, gums and any remaining teeth (if applicable) to determine whether dentures are a suitable option for you. For partial dentures, x-rays may be required to assess whether your remaining teeth are strong enough to support the dentures. Next, an impression of your mouth will be taken in order to create custom dentures based on your individual requirements. This may take a few days or weeks to produce.

Once the dentures are made, you will have an appointment for your first trial and fitting to assess how the fit and feel is for you and plan any necessary adjustments. Follow-up appointments will be made for the dentist to adjust and recontour your dentures so that they are a perfect fit for you and comfortable to wear. Before you take your dentures home, you will receive instructions on how to use and care for your dentures in order for them to last a long time!
