Remove Your Teeth Gap With Cosmetic Dentistry

If you are self-conscious about the gaps between your teeth or have missing or worn teeth, you may be pleased to know that there are other cosmetic dentistry options available for you that are reliable with lasting results.

Veneers

Veneers can transform your smile if you have gaps in your teeth or discolouration. Custom-made for you, they are thin, tooth-coloured shells that are placed over your teeth to improve their appearance.

To get veneers, your dentist will first prepare your teeth. This may involve reshaping your teeth by removing a small amount of enamel, the thin outer covering of the teeth. This allows the veneer to be comfortably fitted over the tooth. The procedure is quick and can take up to three visits to the dentist.

Porcelain Veneers VS Composite Veneers: What’s the Difference?

There are different types of veneers available with porcelain and composite being the most common options for the artificial tooth (the crown). Both provide excellent, long-lasting results and are natural in appearance. The differences are mostly reflected in the material type, the price and to a small extent, the procedure. Porcelain is the premium option, it is a very strong material that is slightly more resistant to staining and possible to whiten. Resin-based composite veneers are a more affordable option with the benefit of being easier to remove if needed. Usually, applying composite veneers is a quicker process, it can take fewer appointments and may not require enamel shaving. Atria Dental® offers both porcelain and composite veneers so you can talk to our team for more information about either option.

Direct Bonding

If you have minor dental cosmetic issues and are looking for a faster and more affordable alternative to composite or porcelain veneers, then direct bonding might be for you.Direct bonding is a popular method used to close spaces between the teeth or fix worn-down teeth. Similar to composite veneers, dental bonding is an adhesive that involves fastening a tooth-coloured resin onto part of your tooth and hardening it in place with a special light. With the ability to last up to 8 years (depending on a patient’s bite and their oral health), dental bonding can be used to correct the position, size or shape of a tooth or a set of teeth.Speak with the dentists at Atria Dental® to see if this restorative treatment option is right for you.

Dental Implants

If your gaps are the result of missing teeth, dental implants are a popular tooth replacement that lasts a lifetime. They are designed to look and feel like a natural tooth and allow you to chew, drink, eat and speak without limitations. Many people find them to be more comfortable than alternatives like dentures. The implant itself is made from titanium and inserted into the jawbone to mimic the root of the tooth. Next, an artificial tooth (also known as a crown) is attached to the implant to fill in the gap left by the missing tooth. Getting implants involves a series of minor surgeries that can be performed in-chair at Atria Dental®.
